At Serrano Heights Academy, we honor uniqueness and diversity of our student body, staff, and community in which we live and serve. Our childcare experience is designed to promote each child’s own individual social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development. We strive to foster this development by promoting equity, inclusion and by acknowledging that representation matters. As caregivers and educators, our mission is to provide a safe and developmentally appropriate learning environment, which stimulates a child’s natural desire to explore, discover, create, and become a lifelong learner and global citizen.
Our Core Values
FAQ's
We accept children from infants through preschool (0–5 years) and school-age children (5–6 years), including both potty-trained and non-potty-trained students.
We use a blend of play-based and academic learning that incorporates science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM), with influences from Montessori and a strong focus on child-led exploration and development.
Depending on their program, children enjoy a balanced day with time for learning, play, meals, and rest or quiet activities.
Our monthly tuition rates depend on your child’s age and the program selected, allowing families to choose the option that best fits their needs.
We offer 3-hour, 6-hour, and full-day programs, with schedules available 2–5 days per week to fit your family’s needs.
Our teachers support each child’s learning through play, exploration, and age-appropriate activities that encourage curiosity and growth.
All our teachers have completed or are in the process of completing their Early Childhood Education units. Many are continuing to expand their knowledge in early childhood or elementary education. All staff have passed background checks to ensure a safe learning environment.
We maintain low student-to-teacher ratios to ensure each child receives personalized care. While standard ratios are 4:1 for infants/toddlers and 12:1 for preschool, we can go as low as 2:1 and 6:1, respectively, for extra support and attention.
The safety and well-being of our children is our top priority. We maintain a secure and nurturing environment. We also follow strict health and sanitation practices, including daily cleaning and disinfecting of classrooms and equipment. Open communication with families is encouraged as we also work closely with parents to address any safety concerns promptly.
We are a peanut-free and nut-free school. If a child has any allergies, teachers maintain an up-to-date allergy list in each classroom and carefully follow all health and safety guidelines to ensure the child’s well-being.
Since we do not have a kitchen on site, we ask that parents provide all meals and snacks for their children
Yes, our teachers offer potty-training support. Once a child shows interest and begins potty training at home, parents are encouraged to communicate their child’s progress with the teachers. Our staff will reinforce those efforts during school hours to ensure consistency and help prevent regression.
We support new students with a gentle transition, offering extra attention and play-based activities so they can feel comfortable, confident, and settled in their first weeks.
We keep parents informed through regular updates in our app and encourage in-person meetings so you can discuss your child’s growth and development with their teacher.
Standard state-required documents, select Serrano Heights Academy forms, and a copy of the child’s immunization records are required.
